Mt. Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece; the home of the twelve gods of antiquity has been characterized as a natural forest. It is known throughout the world for both its ecological characteristics and unparalleled natural beauty, and because of its associations with ancient Greek mythology.
In 1981 UNESCO declared Mt. Olympus as a «Biosphere Reserve». The whole of Mt. Olympus has been declared an archaeological and historical site.
A total of 52 peaks stand out, rising from 760 to 2918 meters. During the summer it is an ideal destination for hiking, mountaineering and mountain climbing.
